Overview & Reviews
Other than having some new wheel designs, the IS 300 is unchanged this year.
- Outstanding driving dynamics, slick interior decor, competitive pricing.
- Small rear seat and trunk, not much storage space, styling more suited to baggy-panted masses.

Reliable - 2003 Lexus IS 300
By Reliable - October 3 - 11:40 amLove the car. Bought it with 15K on it and its got just over 80K now. Sporty, handles great, looks great but most of all its reliable. In 65K miles of driving, I have had to do squat to the car other than oil and change the tires. Obvious normal maintenance but still havent needed brakes, belts are getting ready but no mechanical problems at all. Especially the A/C - works like a champ and still freezes me out.

Never had a problem - 2003 Lexus IS 300
By Z - July 31 - 12:20 pmThis car is the most fun I ever had. I only changed the oil and air filter in 3 years. Other than that it is the most reliable car I ever had.

One fine automobile - 2003 Lexus IS 300
By LCDR - May 2 - 2:00 amA fine touring automobile. The DVD navigation system and excellent sound system made a recent trip a pleasure. Excellent acceleration and handling. I am very pleased with this car.

Perfect city car. - 2003 Lexus IS 300
By jsu888 - May 2 - 2:00 amIm probably the least likely buyer for this car. My last car was a BMW 7 series. I just got tired of all the repairs required by the German cars. This year alone I spent over $10K on over 7 trips to Dinan on everything from leaking transmission oil gasket to air conditioner rebuild. Im returning to Japanese models. I wanted something small for San Francisco and with navigation system. Not too many to choose from. I evaluated Mercedes C230, Toyota Prius, BMW 3 series. This is the only one with DVD navigation system. That means only one disk is required for the entire North American continent, and about $6K less than a comparably equipped BMW 325.

Reliable - 2003 Lexus IS 300
By compcond - March 15 - 2:00 amI still miss my A4. 98 Avant with 49,000 miles. $5,700 in repair bills (not including cat) during years 4 and 5. No accidents, all maintenance and repairs done by Audi dealers. Car needed ECM #3 and had Check Engine light when I traded it in... and I still miss it. The IS strives to be a German car... its not. Its a great handling, super reliable, fun to drive, really nice Toyota.

2003 IS-300 review - 2003 Lexus IS 300
By Todd - January 27 - 3:16 pmThe car is outstanding - fun to drive, and absolutely reliable. Mine has a 5-speed transmission. Quality of everything is top-notch. My only complaints were the way the transmission shifted for about the first year - clutch was very difficult to engage smoothly, but it eventually broke in and is now fine. There has not been a single thing wrong with the car since the day I drove it out of the showroom.

Cooler looking and same $$ as Camry - 2003 Lexus IS 300
By bgk - December 31 - 10:00 amShopped last minute for a 2002 before the 2003 arrive at the end of September. All dealers were willing to give them away at cost (28,888), so I couldnt resist. Great lease (4.2% over 39 mos). The rare charcoal color is cool and it drives like a dream (easy cruise at 80 from Santa Barbera this weekend)

Fun and affordable - 2003 Lexus IS 300
By David - December 21 - 11:36 amThe IS 300 is fun to drive, it handles really well. I have the 5 speed so its quicker than the automatic (I drove both). The interior is sleek and I love the exterior. All around I have been very pleased with this car. I have had a couple isolated issues that fell under warranty, but Ive talked to other owners who didnt have the same issues.
